"Feel" is comes down to how much you prioritise grip and comfort over stability and support. Stable/supportive will be very poppy and firm but potentially harsh and sacrifice grip. Ultra Plush is very comfortable with lots of grip but will lack suppot. Balanced is a best compromise that suits most people.
If in doubt, the default settings are the best starting point to get you on a useable spring

FORK - 7.2 N/mm

FORK - 41 lb/in

SHOCK - 76.9 N/mm

SHOCK - 439 lb/in

Below is the corresponding spring from each brand that matches our recommendation. PLEASE NOTE - this may not exactly match the manufacturers own recommendations, these are based on our own testing and calculations of appropriate rates for a particular rider. Not all brands recommend the same exact rate for every rider so this gives you more consistency

Use this calculator as an aid to help choose the appropriate spring rate for your bike. There is no such thing as the "right" rate for you as there are so many factors that make up how suspension feels. Therefore we don't claim this will be "correct" but it will be a very close starting point. The ultimate test is to ride it. We can do a more precise calculation via email for a small fee, or we do test up days and a data logging service for even better results. It is a work in progress so will contine to be refined but if filled out properly the results will be good.

-If you don't know the stroke of your shock, it is often written on the body (rockshox) or there is a 4-digit code on Fox shocks that you can look up the specs of your model
-Make sure you select the fork travel you are using, even if you only need a shock spring or it won't give the expected result
