Damper revalving

The damper is what is used to control the rate your fork and shock compresses at, by how much force it produces at a certain speed. To allow the wheel to absorb the bumps as well as maintain tyre contact with the ground, this damping must be tuned to match your body weight, the size and shape of the bumps you encounter and the speed you ride at.
