Push Elevensix Progressive spring system

Coil springs are great - they have inherently zero friction, predictable linear rate, consistent with temperature and less wearable parts. Not all coils are created equal though as the actual rate can be different to what is written on the spring and not stay consistent through the entire stroke, which makes set up difficult as you can’t rely on a new spring to perform as stated. This is where Push bring in motorsport experts Hyperco to make their springs - and the result is the best springs for MTB bar none (and yes we tested!). The material used by Hyperco makes for a spring that is as light as possible but will maintain its rate for the life of the spring - you may find lighter but they won’t be as accurate or for as long!

The “barrel” OBD shape - wider in the middle - not only prevents spring rub, but allows it to compress more predictably which is one way it maintains its rate through the whole stroke. The Hypercoils are also available in 25lb/in increments - and are what they say they are! Usually tuning with this fine a resolution is tricky as the overlap between the tolerances of 2 different springs means a change in spring doesn’t yield the expected result, which becomes frustrating and expensive if you are buying new springs and not getting the desired performance.

The bottom out bumper is also more advanced than usual and contributes to a progressive spring feel by storing energy rather than damping it, and is available in multiple rates. This allows for proper ramp up in the last section of travel, then finally the hydraulic bottoming system absorbs the excess bottoming energy at the end of the stroke so it isn’t transmitted to the frame.
